Why I became the Coach I never had.

I wrote my first book over a decade ago. The world was a lot different in the areas of publishing, social media and the general digital landscape. Those were the early days of ebooks, digital books etc Crazy that, Artificial Intelligence wasnt a thing.

Many Ideas can go far if undergirded by the right technology

One of the things that I learned earlier on was that ideas are nice, but execution is everything. Unfortunately many brilliant ideas die at the altar of procastination, ‘’someday syndrome’, and fear of ‘’what will they say”etc. At the end of the day, it does take work to bring forth an idea into the physical realm where it can benefit the masses etc.

At the time, I didnt know much about the digital economy and key fundamentals. I made dozens of phone calls to different publishers, from mid tier to boutique to big ones. After those calls I then had to decide what was the best path for me.

(An Inspired Idea is sometimes an invitation to a new experience and a new level)

I initially published my first book as an ebook and then later it went into print. In fact, for years I had most my books as ebooks. That all changed when one of the pastors reached out for one of my books on prayer from the United States. This was a pastor who was running leadership classes and also had a class on prayer. She basically wanted the book in print because she felt some of her students were not comfortable with ebooks. I was convicted and immediately went into action to get that particular book into print and then naturally organised the other popular books to be in print too.

Over the years I have been approached by many people regarding their books, I have also mentored and coached others bring forth their books. On the most part the challenge that most authors face are in two phases. First part is about getting that first idea and a clear vision in terms of where the book fits into their overall plan etc For example, is it a one off book? Do you intent to write more? Is this just a hobby or you want to build a business around it? etc Someone who wants to write as a hobby and probably do a one off, will have a different level of commitment to someone who wants to write a book, build a business around it with a view of maybe writing a few more or branch out into other related information products.

The 2nd part is the actual writing, publishing and of course marketing etc. Of course all those key elements are critical when it comes to the success of the individual book and also the brand of the author. Whether the author is a Coach, Consultant, Thought Leader, Expert etc. Their book becomes a key part of their brand. I have people who read my books and connected through my social media handles that were at the back of the books and some have become friends. Some people you may have experienced this. You buy a book by an author, and it resonates with you and suddenly you want in on their next class, event or even Mastermind.

So its not surprising that a book becomes a key part of the front end. Many people find the whole process overwhelming, but it doesnt have to be. So one of the reasons why I decided to help others in this space is seeing the various treasure that is out there. Many people sincerely dont know the potency of their ideas. Others generally have had a desire to write a book for years and thats that. They just seem not to find the ‘right time’’ to execute and do the work.

Sometimes all it takes is a chat with someone with a discerning ear to actually see where the issue is. Is it just procastination or there is a layer of underlying fears? Others lack accountability which is one of the reasons why the coaching industry has exploded. This is because a coach helps with that element of accountability. Besides that some people genuinely need someone who has walked the road to guide them step by step. That is fine too.

In a nutshell, one of my passions is to see ideas come to life. More so in the area of books. Books change lives and I have many books that have shaped and changed my life at different points. Whilst Unleash the Book Within addressed some of the key fundamentals. I also recognise that some people need more personal help.

What I know for sure is that the world is waiting for what’’s within you. The world of books is about possibilites. Possibilities regarding your work and the potential for impact. Whether you decide to take it as a hobby or decided to build an information business around it, thats purely up to you.
